Terms of Service

Welcome to GeneMap. These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of the GeneMap iOS app (“Gene”), the website at genemap.app, and any related services we provide (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

GeneMap is a continuously-updated knowledge graph of gene and cell therapies. We pull data from public sources (ClinicalTrials.gov, FDA, MONDO, HGNC, and peer-reviewed literature) and score each therapy across six quality dimensions. The Service is designed for patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers who want a structured way to explore that landscape.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission. The Service is not designed for children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

3. Your account

You can browse most of the Service without an account. If you create one (via Apple Sign-In or magic-link email), you are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure. Notify us at support@genemap.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the iOS app. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to make a clinical decision for yourself or anyone else.
• Scrape, mirror, or republish the proprietary scoring data without our written permission.
• Reverse-engineer the app or attempt to extract user data of other accounts.
• Submit content that is unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
• Use the Service in any way that could damage or overload our infrastructure or interfere with other users.

5. Open data

The underlying graph data is released under CC-BY 4.0 and our application code (where open) is released under Apache 2.0. You may reuse the graph data with attribution. The visual design, brand, and proprietary scoring methodology are not covered by these open licenses.

6. Intellectual property

Subject to the open-data section above, we (and our licensors) retain all rights to the Service, including trademarks, scoring algorithms, UI, and visual design. References to third-party products (individual therapies, trial sponsors, etc.) are made for descriptive purposes only and do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best to keep the graph accurate and up to date, but information may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GeneMap and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for the free Service, is zero dollars).

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates legal or operational risk for us or other users. We will give you reasonable notice unless doing so would be unlawful or unsafe.

10. Privacy

Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the judicial district of Montréal. Nothing in this section affects any non-waivable consumer-protection right you may have under your local law.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms when the Service or applicable law changes. We will surface material updates in the app. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
